NEW COURSE: Brand Design Mastery
Hi designer friends my name is Ran segall, I'm a designer and the founder of Flux Academy and today I have a super exciting announcement we're launching a new course, Brand Design Mastery, and in this video.

So, let's get started with why have we created this course up until now we had web design focused courses why create a brand design course so I want to start off with a personal story one of my first jobs as a you know as a designer was at a branding agency here in Israel where i'm based one of the biggest and most successful branding agencies and when.
I got to work there actually I was working as a designer a few years before and i was already doing web design projects and sometimes even brand design projects I was doing all kinds of design projects but I would always struggle because no matter how good at least.
I thought my designs were my clients would always you know argue with me they would not be aligned.
I would end up not being happy after implementing their feedback and I just struggled a lot.
Now, when I got to this company I was basically blown away because the process that they used helped them not only get the clients aligned they actually produced better design work as a result of it and later on as you know.
I left and I started my freelance career no matter what project I did whether it was brand web design or product design actually brand design was at the core of every one of these projects because at the end of the day no matter if you're designing an app or if you're designing a website.
These things are actually an application of the brand all the choices that you make on a website or on an app basically are communicating who the brand is because the same website can be happy or serious can be you know light or or dark and all of these decisions that you make there from what images or visuals you're going to use what colors what typefaces they are all coming back to the question of who this company actually is and how do they want to be perceived by other people which is in essence brand identity so i think and from my experience coupling this service of understanding.
How to answer these questions and solve these problems for clients which is who you are and what visual tools you should use to present who you want to be they're at the essence of every design project and every designer that has this in their you know set of tools can do better work and obviously charge more money because this is another project and this is at the base right if the company just started out they need these things and then they.
Will need a website or even if they need a website right now they probably need a facelift or answer all of these questions like what imagery or look and feel we should use on the website which is in essence a brand design project so this is why we think this is so important for our students and if you're watching this channel then probably for you as well not to mention that this is one of the most fun and challenging design projects that designers can do which is also super valuable.
And a profitable way of making a living as designers so all the best so in this course um we are also doing something for the first time which is i'm not the only one teaching it we also have two more instructors we have rachel hurry and we have matt bronten you're probably familiar.
With them if you're watching this channel for a while or if you're in the flux community they are professionals and specifically with tons of experience in brand identity design they're doing wonderful work and in this course you're going to benefit not just from my experience but from the experience of them as well which will give you a much more rounded experience and different case studies and different approaches which you are going to benefit from so what do we actually cover in this course well we start off with teaching you how to close a branding project because.
I believe that if you don't really know what kind of problems you solve for your clients right when.
You're talking to them you probably can't sell probably properly and you're not making the best of explaining the value that you are providing so the first we're going to talk about these we're going to teach you exactly what we're solving with the brand identity project so sales are going to be much easier for you then on the next step after you have a project we're going to talk about brand strategy now we've done our research and we know that there are a lot of courses specifically focusing on brand strategy these days.
And i love brand strategy and i think this is a super super important topic and there are people who are just doing brand strategy which i think is fantastic but i think for most designers the role of brand strategy is in part of the brand identity design right it's our clients at least from my experience most of my clients don't just need brand strategy.
They actually don't care about brand strategy they want the outcomes they want a new logo or they want a new website and i am teaching them or i'm telling them just because i understand the process the first part is to clarify your strategy which is going to be the compass so that we can measure all other decisions based on that that's how you get the clients on board and that's how you deliver better work so we're doing this not because necessarily they want this but because.
We know this is important and so in this course we're not going to teach you the brand strategy but also how to convert this strategy into the visuals and into all the design elements that are actually required by your clients so once we teach you how to do this and i will go through teaching you how to run the session and how to get all the delivers deliverables you need from the vision statement.
To the persona and the positioning statement and the big idea everything that you need we're going to move into the next module which is the creative direction in the next module rachel is going to cover how to take all of these insights and translate them into a creative direction.
How to find proper inspiration and how to present the clients mood boards to get them align and understand the creative direction that you want to go for this is again going to save you so much time because the clients are going to be on board and you both know what is the direction.
That you are going after in the next module matt is going to cover how we do logo design and logo design is so important some people think this is the whole thing right just the logo but the logo is just one part of the identity super super important part of the identity and matt is going to deep dive into how to go from sketching how to work in illustrator and refine your logos and composition and shapes and going to help you being able to take all the strategic ideas and the big ideas that you uncovered in the strategy and turn them into a symbol simple symbol that just conveys this big idea in the next module we're going to cover how to create a whole visual identity because as i said a logo.
Is not just an identity is not just a logo right a logo is just one tool and then we have all the other tools which are color typography imagery illustration all the different elements that we're going to use in an identity we're going to cover how to make the right choices to again convey the strategy that we agreed upon with our clients and we're going to wrap everything up with how to deliver this brand how to present it first of all so that your clients would be on-boarded and then how to deliver it from doing the brand guidelines into delivering all the files and assets so you can take your clients from start to finish confidentially.
Now at the end we're also going to cover advanced topics like brand architecture.
And naming and rebranding those are things that as you start building your confidence you're going to tackle bigger projects more interesting projects and we want to give you the tools to be able to answer these questions as well as with all of flux courses we have projects that you can work along to practice as you're doing this and in this project you'll be working in this course you'll be.
Working on two projects one is you'll be designing brand identity for yourself that's a fantastic practice and then we have one of three briefs you can choose for for a fake client in work and practice and we're going to give you feedback on your work and hopefully you're going to create amazing work that you can later on use in your portfolio and that's we base our certification.
